Andy Cheng, OD
Dr. Cheng is a residency trained pediatric optometrist, originally from Salisbury, MD. He graduated with honors from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He then went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA, where he was recognized for his excellence in binocular vision and pediatric eye care. A residency in pediatric optometry brought him back to the east coast where he attended the State University of New York College of Optometry. After completing his residency, he joined the faculty as an attending optometrist at Woodhull Medical Center, affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center, where he trained and supervised students and residents in the pediatric eye clinic.
Dr. Cheng’s clinical focus is on the diagnosis and management of strabismus (eye misalignment), the prevention and management of amblyopia (lazy eye), myopia (near-sighted) control, and ocular manifestations of systemic disorders. Dr. Cheng is among the leading experts in developing treatment with MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses. MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses are specifically designed for myopia control and are FDA approved to slow the progression of myopia in children aged 8-12 at the initiation of treatment.
In his free time, Dr. Cheng loves traveling with his wife and son. He also enjoys playing basketball, exploring new hiking/biking trails, and cooking.
